MPolish - A 5-Free Stamping Polish Review

The MPolish stamping polish in this review is a press sample.
I was not compensated for this review.  All opinions are my own.

Oh, my heart is singing.  Do you hear it??  Do you know why it's singing?  I have finally gotten my dirty little paws (okay, big and ridiculously clean hands) on an amazing stamping polish!!!!!!!

More pics and info after the jump!

Zoya Lael and MPolish Sweetclover

Oh me oh my.  I have been hesitant to buy true stamping polish.  Do you know why I have been hesitant?  I have heard good things about stamping polishes out there, but the smell of some of them leave people running for the hills.  Or, at least, for some fresh air.

This little baby, MPolish by Megatuce, has no odd smell.  In fact, it smells better than most of my polishes.  How's that for awesome!  Oh wait... let me add to that.  This stamping polish line... it's 5-free.  No worrying about cancer-causing or health-threatening chemicals in these!  Oh yeah, and they stamp like perfection!

The one I have to show you today is called Sweetclover.  In the bottle it's a beautiful shimmery soft gold color.  Over white, it shows a similar color (you'll see a shot later of my lint roller).  Over a dark polish, the game has been changed!  Look at that goldish-green hue on my nails!  Okay, let me back up and discuss this mani for a minute.

I started out with a base of Zoya Lael.  This is another fabulous one coat wonder.  In my pic below you can see how well it covers your nail in only one coat.  Watch out though, it does tend to stain a bit in your cuticles.  Those of you with a steady hand shouldn't worry, but me, apparently I like to make my cleanup brush WORK!

I considered stopping after the stamping.  I thought this showcased MPolish Sweetclover pretty well. However, I tend to overdo things and add when I really don't need to.  I will fully disclose that I had some trouble right off the bat when using this polish, but I don't attribute it to the polish, per se.  I tried an image with thinner lines and thinking that this was a slower-drying polish, I wasn't exactly moving quickly.  I moved on to another image, and then another stamper, before settling on this rose image from MoYou London's Artist 10 plate.  I just had to adjust how quickly I was working and boom.  Perfection.

So, since I thought I would add an untried to the mix, I pulled out Bear Pawlish The Blessing.  This stunner is a multi chrome linear holo polish with multi colored micro flakies in it.  This is like everything but the kitchen sink!!  It shifts from gold and pink to green and perfectly complements the stamping in this mani in certain lights.

I tried to catch the shift in BP The Blessing

I used two coats of The Blessing over one coat of Zoya Lael, although I could have just done three coats of The Blessing.  I took a pic of this mani with flash (sorry, I do my nails at night so I don't get that yummy natural light to show the special effects of my nails -- BUT I did manage to include a sunlight pic further down!) and you can see the plum in Lael, as well as the gorgeous flame you get from the linear holo in direct light.

As promised, here is what my lint roller looked like by the end of this stamping session.  You can see how MPolish Sweetclover shows her beautiful toasted butterscotch color over white, and then again how it morphs over the dark polish I am wearing below that.

Hey, look at that!! The sun came out and I was able to snap a pic to share! Look at this in the sunlight, omg I'm dead!

  3. Great review Dancer! Sweetclover is such an interesting polish. In my tests I discovered by accident that it'll stay golden over a red-orange base. I'm really curious to find out over which base colors it turns green and over which it stays golden. Either way, it's a gorgeous color.

    1. Please do and make sure to blog about it! I'd love to know as well. It was a complete surprise that Sweetclover turned up with that beautiful shade of green over the dark polish. So cool that it changes based on what polish it is stamped over! And thank you!!!

    1. Thank you, Katey! There are several different brands out there that make specific stamping polish (Mundo de Unas, Rica, Konad, etc). Problem with them is that some won't disclose what is in their polish (MdU), and others smell very strong. Great thing about MPolish is that it's 5-free and has no bad scent! If you do get into stamping, there are lots of regular polishes that work well for stamping, but MPolish is so unique in color and the fact that they stamp over dark polishes is fantastic.

    1. Thank you, Manisha! I adore this stamper. My nails are really curved when they are this long, so it's very easy to just sink my nail into the stamper rather than fuss with rolling it. It allows the entire image to adhere to my nail, from one side to the other.
