MPolish I Need A Vacation red stamping polish

Are you ready for another MPolish collection?!?  I am!!

Today I have one from MPolish's summer collection, dubbed the Polish of My People collection.  The names of the polishes in this collection are summer-themed, but are also a nod to a few of Meg's swatchers, testers and friends.  How sweet is that?!?  Read on for more pics and info!

MPolish I Need A Vacation

So today I have MPolish I Need A Vacation to show you.  This is a stunningly bold metallic red that stamps over both light and dark polishes.  This polish is appropriately named for Carmen (IG@ineedamani) for a few reasons.  Besides the obvious nod to her IG handle, she wears red so well it would be a shame not to name this beautiful color for her.  If you haven't checked out Carmen's work yet, get to it!  She creates amazing manis and she also blogs!  You can find her blog here.

L-R: Qtica Nail Growth Stimulator, OPI Nail Envy, Zoya Oswin, Zoya Raven, Zoya Dove, Sinful Colors Snow Me White, MPolish I Need A Vacation, KBShimmer Clearly On Top
Mpolish is a press sample.  All other polishes purchased by me.
I was not compensated for this review.  All opinions are my own.

I just want to preface this next photo by letting you know that I officially suck at gradients.  That, or this polish was not meant for sponging.  Which is entirely possible.  It just would NOT cooperate, no matter what I did.  I gave up, and this is what I ended up with.  So thankful I was stamping over them anyway.

Darn polishes not cooperating...

Quite possibly my worst gradient ever

Yeah, wow.  I used Zoya Raven and Dove and Sinful Colors Snow Me White.  Raven would not stay opaque, so I had to just dab it on my nail and try to blend it without picking too much up, and Dove just kept blending with Raven and Snow Me White so much that it wouldn't stand on its own.  I used a dry latex-free sponge, same as I usually do for sponging/gradients, but it just wasn't working for me this go-round.

I used two coats of Zoya Oswin on my ring finger and thumb.  I must have been completely off my game when doing this mani because I swore it was Zoya Chyna... until I noticed the glitter... the next day.  So many facepalms with this mani...  Oh, I also used three coats of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat to smooth out the texture of Oswin.  And I could still feel the texture.  Not a huge deal to me, but it may be to you.

I used my Uber Chic Beauty plate 1-03 (not pictured above because I was originally going to use a different image) and Creative Shop stamper with my MPolish.  Uhf... they go together like peanut butter, jelly and bread.  Together they just make sense.

What I really need is better lighting...

I threw in a macro for the stamping, please don't focus too long on the gradient part, lol.

Bottom line: Get your bank accounts ready for MPolish's new collections!  She just keeps producing winner after winner!  If you are an avid stamper, you'll want this polish in your collection.  The fact that it's 5-free and cruelty free too sets it apart from other stamping polishes.  They also happen to be easy to work with and come in a beautiful array of colors and finishes!

Please share, what is your go-to process for gradients?  I need all the help I can get.  ;-)

  1. We all have those days where nothing wants to freaking work. Once stamped.over your gradient looks fine. I'm not really great at them either, but I've read people wet the sponge. Maybe that will help?

  6. Sometimes some polishes just don't work well for gradients. I've had some that where just impossible to gradient. I also wanted to say that when I first saw you post this mani, I thought you had stamped with black and white over red. It wasn't until the macro that I realized it was the other way around. Which just goes to show what an amazing polish Mega has created.

  13. I love love LOVE this mani!!! When I do a gradient I just do the damp sponge method with latex around the nail for easy cleanup. White is my typical base because it's ususlly lighter colors I use. Your gradient is beautiful!

  14. Okay, you don't suck at gradients. I absolutely love the base without the stamping!! The stamping is gorgeous, don't get me wrong but this looks like gorgeous smokey wisps!! It's so pretty!!! My tips for gradients are to use a white base OR the lightest polish of your gradient as a base. Make sure the sponge is damp and you don't have TOO much polish on the sponge. Pat lightly while moving the sponge up and down on your nail to blend. Repeat this process as many times as you get the look you want!! Good luck!!
